Drunk Glass is an original artistic object created by Czech designer and glass artist Lukáš Houdek, who transforms the iconic Pilsner Urquell beer bottle and glass into a unique work of art with humour and a sense of irony. An ordinary consumer object is removed from its original context and transformed into a piece that connects design, fine art, and Czech beer culture.
A distinctive feature of the collection is the combination of pressed glass with an elegant crystal stem. The contrast between the familiar shape of a beer bottle and the refined material creates a playful provocation as well as a tribute to Czech glassmaking. Each piece is created through a combination of pressed and hand-finished glass, with individual parts joined using cold bonding.
Lukáš Houdek is a graduate of the Glass Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM), led by Rony Plesl. His work moves between the fields of design and fine art, experimenting with both traditional and contemporary techniques. He draws inspiration from pop culture, humour, and parody. His creations are easily recognisable thanks to their lightness, originality, and distinctive artistic style.
The Drunk Glass project was selected among the 20 best works in the Pilsner Urquell art competition in 2017.
